"New UI Version eS System" Enhancing the UI to Meet Diverse Customer Needs

New UI Version eS System

The New UI Version eS System Pursuing Flexibility in Automated Warehouse Systems

The main users of our automated warehouse system (eS system) have traditionally been those directly involved in the operation of automated warehouses. However, in recent years, it has come to be used by people in various positions, such as the information systems department.

From the perspective of UI (User Interface), since around 2000, we have adopted a web system approach and relatively inexpensive Windows PCs for operation terminals. Nowadays, inexpensive terminals equipped with operating systems other than Windows, such as smartphones and tablets, have become widely popular, and operation in diverse environments is now required. Furthermore, the concept of UX (User Experience), which emphasizes the experience and satisfaction users gain when using specific products or services, has recently gained attention.

The new UI version eS system of the automated warehouse system is a user-friendly system that can be used by a wide range of customers.

Dashboard Functionality

Users who are not directly involved in the operation of the automated warehouse mainly use the support functions. To meet the needs of such users, we are creating a dashboard screen that displays the support functions collectively. On the dashboard screen, users can also rearrange the support functions by drag-and-drop operations.

Introduction of Human-Centered Design

The new UI version of the eS system has been well-received for its high customizability, which meets the diverse needs of customers. However, this high customizability has also caused inconsistencies in screen design. As a solution, we have introduced UX (User Experience) and selected human-centered design, which prioritizes people in the manufacturing process. Additionally, by creating screens that comply with the screen design guidelines, we are also working to improve product quality.
